Cricket Australia has announced Pat Cummins as the country's 47th Test captain.
Pat Cummins will succeed Tim Paine as captain, who resigned last week following news of a scandal involving the sending of improper texts to a female coworker in 2017.
Pat Cummins is the first Australian fast bowler to captain his country in Test cricket since Ray Lindwall in 1957.
The much-anticipated Ashes Test series, which begins next month, will be Cummins' first assignment as Test captain.
