The Parker Solar Probe, launched by NASA, became the first spacecraft to fly through the outer atmosphere of the Sun.
The spacecraft sampled magnetic fields and particles in the Sun's upper atmosphere, known as the 'Corona.'
Parker was launched in 2018 with the goal of making repeated and increasingly close passes of the Sun.
The spacecraft travels at a breathtaking speed of over 500,000kmph, allowing for quick entry and exit to avoid heat damage.
It is part of NASA's 'Living with a Star' programme, in which the agency seeks to understand and collect data on various aspects of the Sun-Earth system.
