  • Nanda Kishore Prusty, a Padma Shri awardee and a centenarian teacher from Odisha who was affectionately known as Nanda Sir, died due to Covid-19.
  • Nanda Kishore Prusty, a teacher for centuries, was a resident of Kantira village in the Jajpur district. He was admired by all for his selfless dedication in the field of illiteracy eradication.
  • On 9 November, he was honored with the Padma Shri award by President Ram Nath Kovind for his contribution to education.
  • Nanda Kishor Prusty, who was a Class 7 pass out, spent decades of his life in Jajpur educating children and adults for free.
