Padma Shri awardee and social activist Shanti Devi passed away at her residence in Gunupur, Rayagada district of Odisha.
Shanti Devi was a well-known social worker in Odisha.
She was born on 18 April 1934. The social worker started a small ashram in Koraput and later founded the Seva Samaj in Rayagada. Shanti Devi did a lot of work for the progress of tribal girls.
As one of the leading pioneers of the social service movement, she was awarded the Padma Shri, one of the country's most prestigious civilian awards, in the year 2021.
