PL Haranadh took over as chairman of the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and emphasised the importance of making it the country's number one major port.
Haranadh worked in the Indian Railways for 22 years in various capacities during his 27-year career. He also worked for the Ministry of Shipping for five years.
In recognition of his many meritorious contributions, he received the Ministry of Railways' National Award for Outstanding Management in 2002 and 2005.
