Under Operation Sagar Bandhu, launched to provide critical Search & Rescue and Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief support to cyclone-hit Sri Lanka, the Indian Navy has deployed four more vessels—INS Gharial, LCU 54, LCU 51 and LCU 57—to deliver 1,000 tons of relief material. Earlier, INS Vikrant, INS Udaygiri and INS Sukanya provided assistance through relief supplies and helicopter-based rescue operations. Three LCU ships reached Colombo on 7 December 2025 and handed over urgently required aid to Sri Lankan authorities.
