Odisha’s 16-year-old weightlifter Priteesmita Bhoi created history at the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Manama, Bahrain, by winning the gold medal in the 44 kg category and setting a new world youth record. She lifted a total of 158 kg — 66 kg in snatch and 92 kg in clean and jerk. Training at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga High Performance Centre, Priteesmita’s remarkable feat is a proud moment for India and a shining example of how young talent from small towns can make the nation proud on the global stage.
