  • In its recent announcement on February 9, 2024, Odisha presented its comprehensive budget for the financial year 2024-25, totalling Rs 2.55 lakh crore. 
  • Metro Rail Project: A significant investment of Rs 1000 crore has been earmarked to boost the development of metro rail project in the state.
  • The budget has made a provision of Rs 1,555 crore to promote growth and sustainability of industries and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
  • With a focus on agricultural prosperity, an adequate allocation of Rs 28,944 crore has been dedicated to augmenting the agriculture budget aimed at the upliftment of farmers and agricultural infrastructure.
  • Recognizing the importance of food security, Rs 685 crore has been allocated for food storage and storage-procurement initiative.
  • A remarkable provision of Rs 1,935 crore has been allocated for direct benefit transfer under the famous "KALIA Scheme" aimed at supporting farmers and their livelihood.
  • A total of Rs 19,959 crore has been allocated to strengthen public health services, ensuring accessible and quality medical facilities to all citizens while prioritizing public health.
  • To increase agricultural productivity, Rs 14,467 crore has been allocated for the irrigation sector with emphasis on development of irrigation infrastructure across the state.
