·        World Vegetarian Day is observed every year on 1 October to promote happiness, compassion, and ability to improve vegetarianism.

·        World Vegetarian Day was established in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) and further approved by the International Vegetarian Union in 1978.

·        The entire week between 1-7 October is observed as International Vegetarian Week (IVW).
