NITI Aayog released the report “India Blue Economy: Strategy for Harnessing Deep Sea and Offshore Fisheries”, launched by Prof. Ramesh Chand and CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam. According to the report, India, the world’s second-largest fish producer, can expand deep-sea fisheries through its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and long coastline. The report emphasizes policy reforms, fleet modernization, sustainable management, and local community participation. A three-phase roadmap has been outlined to position India as a global leader in deep-sea fisheries.
