  • According to a new report 'Gross Household Climate Vulnerability', nine Indian states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab are at risk of eight types of climate change. 
  • Indian states are among the top 50 regions in the world most at risk of infrastructure damage due to the climate crisis.
  • Among the nine Indian states, Bihar is ranked 22nd, Uttar Pradesh 25th, Assam 28th, Rajasthan 32nd, Tamil Nadu 36th, Maharashtra 38th, Gujarat 48th, Punjab 50th, and Kerala 52nd.
  • The 'Gross Domestic Climate Risk' (GDCR) has been analyzed to calculate the climate risk of over 2,600 regions worldwide by 2050. In this, UK-based climate organization Cross Dependency Initiative (XDI) has ranked Delhi at 446th position.
  • China, the US and India account for 80 per cent of the top 50 most vulnerable states and regions by 2050, according to the analysis.
  • Assam is projected to increase its exposure to climate-related hazards by more than 330 percent by 2050 compared to 1990, the most affected Bihar in India.
