According to a new report 'Gross Household Climate Vulnerability', nine Indian states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab are at risk of eight types of climate change.
Indian states are among the top 50 regions in the world most at risk of infrastructure damage due to the climate crisis.
Among the nine Indian states, Bihar is ranked 22nd, Uttar Pradesh 25th, Assam 28th, Rajasthan 32nd, Tamil Nadu 36th, Maharashtra 38th, Gujarat 48th, Punjab 50th, and Kerala 52nd.
The 'Gross Domestic Climate Risk' (GDCR) has been analyzed to calculate the climate risk of over 2,600 regions worldwide by 2050. In this, UK-based climate organization Cross Dependency Initiative (XDI) has ranked Delhi at 446th position.
China, the US and India account for 80 per cent of the top 50 most vulnerable states and regions by 2050, according to the analysis.
Assam is projected to increase its exposure to climate-related hazards by more than 330 percent by 2050 compared to 1990, the most affected Bihar in India.
