NIMHANS, Bengaluru, was awarded the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion for 2024 by WHO, recognizing its remarkable contributions to mental health and well-being.
Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the award as a recognition of India's inclusive healthcare efforts, emphasizing NIMHANS' innovative approaches in mental health research, education, and patient care.
The award coincides with NIMHANS celebrating 50 years of its formation and the 70th anniversary of its precursor, AIIMH.
The institute's efforts in integrating mental health into general healthcare and pioneering digital health interventions have been globally recognized.
