Nicolas Maduro was declared the winner of Venezuela’s presidential election on July 28, securing 51% of the vote against opposition candidate Edmundo González, who received 44%.
The National Electoral Council, controlled by Maduro loyalists, did not immediately release detailed results from all polling booths, leading to claims of data discrepancies and hampering the opposition’s ability to contest the outcome.
