  • Scientists and experts in France have reportedly discovered a new variant of COVID-19 known as 'IHU.' The new variant is said to be a more mutated strain than Omicron.
  • About 12 cases of this new form have been reported near Marseilles in France and it is being linked to the African country of Cameroon.
  • The B.1.640.2 or IHU variant has been first identified by academics at the Institute IHU Mediterranee Infection and contains 46 mutations, more than Omicron.
