On January 14, 2026, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared senior-level appointments across key security and investigative bodies.
Praveen Kumar, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre, has been appointed Director General of the Border Security Force, with a tenure lasting until September 30, 2030.
Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, a 1990-batch IPS officer and former Haryana DGP, has been named Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police until October 31, 2026. Rakesh Aggarwal, a 1994-batch IPS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed Director General of the National Investigation Agency. A counter-terrorism expert, his tenure will run until August 31, 2028.
