Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra on Friday clinched the javelin throw competition at the Lausanne Diamond League with a best throw of 89.08m.
He became the first Indian to clinch the prestigious Diamond League Meeting title with a win in Lausanne.
Prior to Chopra, only discus thrower Vikas Gowda represented India by finishing in the top three at the Diamond League competition.
Neeraj recently helped India win a silver medal in the world athletics championships. He became only the second athlete to achieve so, following Anju Bobby George (2003).
Neeraj won the silver medal in the final by throwing the javelin 88.13 metres, which was good for second place.
