The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was passed and amended by Parliament to correct errors that had crept in.
The Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill-2021 was passed by the Lok Sabha on December 13.
The Rajya Sabha approved the bill by voice vote.
On September 30, 2021, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Ordinance went into force.
