  • The Panchayati Raj Department of the Government of Jharkhand will organize a National Workshop on PESA Act in Ranchi on 24 December 2024, with the aim of spreading awareness about the provisions of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (PESA Act).
  • The PESA Act is a landmark legislation to empower tribal communities in self-governance and management of natural resources, playing an important role in protecting them from exploitation. 
  • It strives to preserve the social, economic, cultural and political life of the Scheduled Tribes.
  • The objective of this workshop is to empower tribal communities in scheduled areas through effective implementation of the PESA Act, enhance cooperation and spread awareness about the objectives of the PESA Act.
