The National Women’s Hockey League 2024 commenced in Jharkhand with the participation of eight teams, marking a significant milestone for women's hockey in India and showcasing the growing interest and support for the sport at the national level.
The opening match at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi featured a clash between the home team, Jharkhand, and Mizoram, highlighting the competitive spirit and enthusiasm among players from different regions of the country to excel in the sport.
Additionally, the presence of Hockey India officials, including Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh and Treasurer Sekar J Manoharan, alongside Sports Authority of India’s Director General Sandeep Pradhan, underscored the collaborative efforts and institutional support aimed at promoting hockey development in India.
