  • Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee designated May 11 as National Technology Day in India to commemorate the Pokhran nuclear tests conducted by the Indian Army in 1998. 
  • The inaugural celebration took place on May 11, 1999, organized by the Council for Technology, to honor the achievements of professionals in the field and recognize their contributions to national progress.
  • The 2024 theme for National Technology Day is “From Schools to Startups: Igniting Young Minds to Innovate.”
