National Technology Day is celebrated on May 11 every year to honour the contributions of India’s scientific community including scientists, researchers and engineers.
The National Technology Day is celebrated on 11 May to commemorate the anniversary of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests.
These tests were a series of five explosions conducted under the guidance of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at the Indian Army's Pokhran Test Range.
On 11 May 1998, India tested its first indigenous aircraft Hansa-3 which was meant for pilot training, surveillance, and reconnaissance purposes in Bangalore.
Successful test firing of surface-to-air missile, Trishul was also performed on the same day.
