National Education Day is celebrated every year on 11 November in the country.
This day is celebrated in the memory of Abul Kalam Azad.
This day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2008.
The theme of National Education Day 2023 has been kept as 'Innovative Education for a Sustainable Future'.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the Education Minister of the country from 15 August 1947 to 2 February 1958.
Many cultural and literary academies were also established during Azad's tenure, such as Sahitya Akademi, Lalit Kala Akademi, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Indian Council for Cultural Relations etc.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was posthumously awarded Bharat Ratna in the year 1992.
