National Consumer Day is observed every year on December 24, dedicated to raising awareness of the rights of consumers.
The day marks the anniversary of the enactment of the Indian Consumer Protection Act, 1986, whose main objective is to protect the rights of consumers and make them aware of their rights.
This year, Consumer Day is being celebrated in Delhi with the theme "Digital Access to Virtual Hearing and Consumer Justice".
This theme is in line with the objectives of the new Consumer Protection Act, 2019. It aims to provide prompt, minimal cost resolution and hassle-free justice to consumers.
