CG Semi, a subsidiary of Murugappa Group backed by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), inaugurated its pilot line at a ₹7,600 crore semiconductor packaging facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The project, supported 50% by the Union government and developed in partnership with Renesas Electronics (U.S.) and Stars Microelectronics (Thailand), is the first among 10 ISM-approved projects to reach this stage. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel attended the inauguration. The facility will produce chips for electronics, automobiles, and appliances, with the pilot line testing qualifying chips before scaling up to a capacity of 5 lakh chips per day.
