Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, introduced the upgraded Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS 2.0).
This enhanced system aims to improve the monitoring of steel imports, support the growth of the domestic steel industry, and provide better data for policy-making and identifying production growth areas.
SIMS 2.0 features API integration for better quality control and efficiency, a robust data system for accurate and consistent data entry, and risk management capabilities to identify and manage risks, including imports from non-BIS licensed sources.
It was developed with contributions from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and MSTC Ltd., a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Steel.
