U.S.-based Micron Technology has signed a preliminary agreement to acquire a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taiwan from Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation for $1.8 billion (over ₹16,300 crore).
Following completion of the deal, expected in the second quarter, Micron plans to gradually expand DRAM chip production at the site.
Currently, a significant portion of Micron’s chip manufacturing operations are based in Asia.
