A powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck off Russia’s remote Far Eastern coast early Wednesday, triggering tsunami waves that reached Japan, Hawaii, and parts of the U.S. West Coast, including San Francisco. Waves measured 3–4 meters in Kamchatka, and between 60 cm to 1.5 meters elsewhere. Although some people were injured, there were no fatalities or serious damages reported.
