Following the demise of Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan (80 years) on August 15, 2025 while undergoing treatment at a Chennai hospital, President of India appointed Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Governor of Manipur, with the additional responsibility of Nagaland. The Rashtrapati Bhavan’s communique (August 16) confirmed that Mr. Bhalla will discharge the duties of Nagaland Governor in addition to his existing charge in Manipur until a full-time successor is appointed.
