Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi has been elected as Interpol's president.
Maj Gen Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi will lead the global crime-fighting agency, which is headquartered in Lyon, France, for a four-year term.
Maj Gen Al Raisi is the first candidate from the Middle East to hold the position since Interpol was founded in the 1920s.
Major General Al Raisi is currently serving as the Inspector General at the UAE Ministry of Interior.
Abu Dhabi was recently one of the global hubs in a major anti-trafficking operation led by Interpol that resulted in 286 arrests worldwide.
