  • Madhya Pradesh has become the first State in India to send elderly people on pilgrimage by air under the Mukhyamantri Teerthdarshan Yojana.
  • The pilgrims include 24 men and eight women. 
  • The Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana is one of the flagship schemes of the BJP government in the State.
  • The scheme was introduced in the year 2012. So far, more than 7.80 lakh elderly persons have undertaken pilgrimage by special trains.
