  • Director General Border Roads (DGBR) Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry received the Guinness World Records certificate, for the achievement of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of constructing and blacktopping the world's highest motorable road at 19,024 feet at Umlingla Pass in Ladakh.
  • It is a 52-kilometer-long tarmac road that runs through the Umlingla Pass. It was built to break the previous record of a road in Bolivia connecting to the volcano Uturuncu, which stood at 18,953 feet.
  • The strategically important road, which is about 15 kilometers long, demonstrates the government's focus on developing road infrastructure in border areas.
