Lieutenant-General Pushpendra Singh, a senior officer from the Parachute Regiment with a distinguished service record spanning over 35 years, has been appointed as the next Vice Chief of the Army Staff. He will formally take over the post on Friday, succeeding Lt. Gen. N.S. Raja Subramani. In parallel developments in the Navy, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan is set to take charge as the new Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, while Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan will step in as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) on the same day, as per official confirmation.
