Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh has taken charge as the new Vice Chief of the Army Staff, effective July 31, 2025. Commissioned into the elite 4th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in December 1987, Lt Gen Singh is an alumnus of La Martiniere College, Lucknow University, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. His appointment reflects his extensive experience and decorated career in specialised military operations.
