  • Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani has been cleared by the government to become the next Vice Chief of Army Staff, succeeding Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, who will assume the role of Chief of the Army Staff upon Gen Manoj Pande's retirement.
  • Lt Gen Subramani's military career spans over 37 years, during which he has held significant commands, including leading operations in Assam and commanding a division in Northeast India. 
  • He has also served in various strategic and operational roles across different commands and headquarters.
  • He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy, with additional qualifications from the Joint Services Command Staff College in the UK and the National Defence College in New Delhi. 
  • He holds a Master of Arts from King’s College, London, and an MPhil in Defence Studies from Madras University.
