The Lok Sabha passed the Railways Amendment Bill, 2024, which simplifies the legal framework by merging the Railway Board Act 1905 under the Railways Act 1989.
The Bill proposes to incorporate all the provisions of the erstwhile colonial era Indian Railway Board Act, 1905 in the Railways Act, 1989.
It aims to simplify the legal framework and reduce the need to refer to the two laws.
