  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Lalit Kumar Gupta as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), a PSU under the Ministry of Textile.
  • Gupta has been appointed as CMD of CCI with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post for a period of five years, or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.
  • Gupta was recommended for the post of CMD of CCI by the PESB panel. Presently, he is serving as Director (Finnane) in the same organisation.
  • Gupta has a very long association with Cotton Corporation of about 25 years. He joined CCI in August 1994.
  • CCI was established on 31st July 1970 under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, as a Public Sector Undertaking under the Companies Act 1956.
