  • A 2000 kilolitres per day capacity, Leachate Treatment Plant was inaugurated by Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister KT Rama Rao at Jawaharnagar dump yard.
  • This will ensure that Jawaharnagar and adjoining localities do not witness water pollution in the future. 
  • Malkaram Cheruvu was polluted with wastewater because of the leachate which gathered at the Jawaharnagar dump yard.
  • The dumping yard was designed for 3,000 metric tonnes of garbage, but 8,000 metric tonnes are dumped daily.
  • Minister KT Rama Rao said the plant and other series of activities represent a significant investment in environmental sustainability.
