Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has laid the foundation stone for a 2.93-kilometer-long ropeway project that will connect Bengaluru to the popular tourist destination of Nandi Hills.
The undertaking of the project will cost 93.40 crore.
The cabinet has reportedly approved 50 cabins, each accommodating a total of 10 passengers and each round trip will take approximately 28 minutes.
The ropeway would have the capacity to transport 1,000 people per hour.
The Karnataka Tourism Department has signed an agreement with Dyanamicx Ropeway Limited under Public Private Partnership model to construct the ropeway to Nandi Hill.
The ropeway will facilitate tourists to reach Nandi Hill, famous for adventure activities like trekking and para-gliding.
The chief minister said it would also help in aerial viewing of the scenic spot.
