At the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, India’s Kapil Bainsla clinched the gold medal in the junior men’s air pistol event, narrowly defeating Uzbekistan’s Ilkhombek Obidjonov by 0.6 points. Jonathan Antony, who topped qualification with 582 points, secured the bronze medal. In the senior men’s air pistol, Amit Sharma (588) and Varun Tomar (584) scored impressively but were not eligible for medals due to competing in the RPO category. Anmol Jain, with a score of 580, was the only Indian to reach the final, finishing sixth. India also earned team silver medals in both the senior men’s and junior sections, finishing behind China and Korea respectively. In the youth category, Girish Gupta won gold and Dev Pratap bagged silver, helping India secure another team silver, this time behind Iran.
