The All India Football Federation (AIFF) elected its new president on Friday 2 September.
Former Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey emerged victorious, blanking former India captain, Bhaichung Bhutia.
Thirty-three members of the Electoral College voted for Chaubey while Bhuita got just one vote.
In 1999, Bhutia became the first Indian footballer to sign with a European club.
Chaubey, a former Mohun Bagan and East Bengal goalkeeper, has been associated with the BJP since 2015 – he lost the last parliamentary elections from Krishnanagar in West Bengal.
