  • Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, former Chairperson of the 22nd Law Commission of India and former Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, was sworn in as the judicial member of Lokpal.
  • Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi was serving as the Chairperson of the 22nd Law Commission of India before joining as a judicial member of the Lokpal of India. Prior to this, he was the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
  • Pankaj Kumar, a senior IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre, and Ajay Tirkey, another senior IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, also took oath as members of Lokpal.
  • The new appointments come as two judicial members and three other members of Lokpal completed their tenure on March 26, 2024, leading to the induction of the new members into the anti-corruption watchdog agency.
