Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi was recommended for the position by the Supreme Court Collegium on 27-12-2023, and his appointment as the 15th Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court was notified by the Ministry of Law and Justice on 03-07-2024.
Dr. Justice Sarangi succeeds Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, who retired on 28-12-2023, as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
Before his elevation to the High Court of Orissa, Justice Sarangi had 27 years of regular practice at the Bar before the High Court of Orissa and the Supreme Court.
