José Raúl Mulino wins Panama's presidential election with nearly 35% of the counted votes, securing an unassailable lead over his nearest rival.
Mulino, a former security minister, was initially chosen as a Vice-Presidential candidate by former president Ricardo Martinelli, who had to leave the race due to a money laundering conviction.
Supported by Martinelli, Mulino stood on the Achieving Goals and Alliance parties ticket and acknowledged Martinelli's help and support in his successful presidential bid.
