Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO, has named Naomi Kawase, a Japanese film director, as the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural and Creative Industries.
Ms. Azoulay selected Naomi Kawase for her dedication to culture and creativity in the service of the building of more equitable societies, particularly for girls and women, as well as her support for the Organization's goals.
She has also been the official film director for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Goodwill Ambassadors of UNESCO use their skills and prominence to promote the Organization's principles and goals.
