India and Sri Lanka launched the MRCC on June 20 to strengthen maritime security cooperation, supported by a grant from New Delhi.
The MRCC initiative underscores the strategic maritime security partnership between the two nations amidst regional geopolitical concerns over port developments and naval activities.
The MRCC, with its main and sub-centres along Sri Lanka's coastline, aims to bolster coordination and response capabilities, reinforcing collaborative efforts in the Indian Ocean Region.
