Aditya-L1, India's first solar observatory mission, successfully completed its first halo orbit at Lagrange Point 1, approximately 1.5 million km from Earth, after being launched on September 2, 2023, and reaching its targeted orbit on January 6, 2024.
To maintain its orbit, Aditya-L1 underwent three station-keeping maneuvers, with two critical adjustments on February 22 and June 7, 2024, ensuring it remained on its intended path despite perturbing forces.
The Aditya-L1 spacecraft takes 178 days to complete one revolution around the L1 point in its halo orbit, demonstrating the intricate dynamics and precision required for such long-duration space missions.
