  • The Maharashtra government appointed IPS officer Rajnish Seth as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.
  • DGP Seth, a 1988 cadre IPS officer replaced Sanjay Pandey, who held the additional charge of the post since April 9, 2021.
  • IPS Seth has served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) in Mumbai police and was previously posted as the director general of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
  • The new DGP was once the head of the elite commando force of Maharashtra Police Force One and was appointed as acting DGP in 2021 for a few days.
