  • International Students Day is celebrated every year on 17 November.
  • The day also marks the anniversary of the Nazi attack on a university in Prague in 1939.
  • During this invasion the Nazis imprisoned about a thousand students.
  • The purpose of this day is to honor those students as well as raise awareness about the challenges we face today.
  • Two years after this incident, i.e. in 1941, an international conference was called in London.
  • This conference was of students fighting against fascism.
  • It was decided here that henceforth International Students Day would be celebrated on 17th November every year in memory of the students martyred by the Nazis.
