The OECD’s International Migration Outlook 2025 reports that global migration remains high, with 6.2 million people migrating permanently to OECD countries in 2024. India emerged as the top source of migrants, especially skilled professionals in health and care sectors. Family reunification (44%) remains the main migration reason, followed by labour (17%) and humanitarian migration (13%). Immigrants earn 34% less than native-born workers but the gap narrows over time. The OECD urges improved integration, skill recognition, and support for migrant women to enhance economic inclusion and social resilience.
