  • Every year in November 2021, International Fisheries Day is observed to highlight the sustainability factors of the fishing industry.
  • Apart from this, this day is also very important for maintaining the balance of the ecosystem and its surroundings.
  • In 1997, the World Fisheries Forum (WFF) was established as a forum for the World Fisheries Consortium (the World Fisheries Forum). A global consensus document that marked the standardization of fishing practices was signed by as many as 18 countries.
  • The first World Fisheries Day was observed on November 21, 2015.
  • On the same day, the International Fishermen's Organization held its grand opening in New Delhi.
  • This year's theme is 'The fishing industry, a mix of nature and the environment, and a greater focus on biodiversity.
